Q: What makes your hydrangeas unique compared to other varieties available?
A: Our team carefully selects cultivars with optimum qualities. The majority of our hydrangea products are designed to enhance petal density, color saturation and vase longevity. By carefully cross-pollinating resilient varieties, we're developing blooms that maintain their vibrancy in arid climates, a hallmark of our New Mexico Greenhouse specially designed.
Q: How Do Genetics Influence Your Hydrangea?
A: Hydrangea color is largely influenced by soil pH and aluminum availability, but our genetic lines are optimized to maintain consistent hues regardless of soil variation. Through genetic stability testing, our luxury series can produce uniform blush pinks, red, ivory, and creamy whites year-round.
Q: Are there varieties available year round?
A: "Year-round" usually refers to availability and ornamental value, not continuous blooming. Certain hydrangeas retain decorative features such as rich foliage, colorful stems, or dried flower clusters that maintain visual appeal throughout the year.
Q: How long does it take to develop and release a new hydrangea variety?
A: Creating new products for our clientele can last from 3-7.5 years. We begin by selecting parent plants with exquisite traits and testing several different types of products before introducing them to our luxury collection.
Q: Can clients request exclusive or custom breed hydrangea varieties?
A: Yes. Our sales department welcomes a variety of client requests; however, at this time, only select customization options are available for exclusive hydrangea varieties.
